



National Defence University’s Delegation Visits Pak. Embassy in Berlin

A 17-member delegation comprising participants of National Security Course – 2009-10 of the National Defence University (NDU), Islamabad visited Pakistan Embassy here today.
Pakistan’s Ambassador to Germany Mr. Shahid Kamal and officials of the Embassy welcomed the delegation on arrival.
The Ambassador briefed the delegation on German’s political and economic situation, as well as main features of German Foreign Policy including German Forces deployment in Afghanistan. Referring to Pak-German relations, Mr. Kamal said that these were broadening and deepening in Political, Economic, Defence and Education fields. An Investment Conference is being held in Munich on May 11, 2010 to showcase different areas of Pakistan’s Economy open for foreign investment and attract German investment in these areas, he added.
Replying to a question about Pakistan community’s role in Pak-German relations, Mr. Shahid Kamal said that the 2nd generation of Pakistani community living in Germany would be an important bridge of friendship between the two countries as they actively participate in different social activities representative of both Pakistan and Germany.
The delegation had a week long study tour to Germany as a part of their course. .

Ambassador of Pakistan calls on Minister President of Thuringia
Berlin: April 19, 2010.
Pakistans Ambassador to Germany Shahid Kamal paid an official visit to the State of Thuringia and met with the Minister President Christine Lieberknecht. During the discussion the Minister President agreed to strengthen cooperation between Pakistan and the State of Thuringia in areas of economy, energy, education and agriculture. State of Thuringia will support initiatives to build cooperation in seeking agricultural technology as a top Agriculture Research Centre is located at Erfurt, the capital city of the state. It was agreed that efforts would be made to get German companies to invest in solar power sector of Pakistan.
Pak Ambassador also met the mayor of Erfurt city during his stay.

Ambassador of Pakistan calls on Minister President of Sachsen-Anhalt
Berlin: April 17, 2010
The Ambassador of Pakistan to Germany, Mr. Shahid Kamal called on the Minister President of the State of Sachsen-Anhalt, Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Bohmer in Magdeburg, the state's capital city.
The Ambassador discussed possibilities of cooperation between Pakistan and the state of Sachsen-Anhalt in the field of renewable energy, especially Wind Power which is a large sector in this region. There was agreement to promote cooperation in higher education at the University of Magdeburg in areas of Science & Technology.
The Minister President Prof. Dr. Bohmer welcomed cooperation in fields like trade, technology transfer, and education.
During his visit, Ambassador Shahid Kamal also met the President of the Parliament of Sachsen-Anhalt and the Lord Mayor of Magdeburg.
Pakistan exported goods of 4.44 million euro in 2008 which increased in the 2009 and during the first nine months it exported goods of 5.7 million euro to Sachsen-Anhalt.
In 2008 Sachsen-Anhalt exported goods of 6.5 million euro to Pakistan and the exports increased to 21.2 million euro during the first nine months of 2009. At present, 47 students are studying at the universities and high schools of Sachsen-Anhalt.
